One Big Girl

Elinor thinks she's a lot older than she really is. Can't feed herself? She'd rather starve. Can't sit at the table? She'd rather stand. Can't use a spoon? She'd rather not eat. Here are some cute pictures of Elinor eating cereal (sans milk--she can't drink milk) at the table this morning. The first two are our favorites.

(Do you like the pink shirt over the sleeper? If we don't put a shirt on over it, we wake up to a fully naked babe in the morning. She takes the sleeper off in 1.5 seconds. Crazy girl).

Pics

It's been a little while since I have posted anything. Here are some pictures of Elinor I took today:

She is a monkey. She can climb onto ANYTHING. Her favorites: the toilet and especially the table. This makes our job a whole lot harder. We had to make a fortress on our TV thingy so she can't climb on that anymore (we thought the whole falling off daily and getting new shiners would do the trick. Nope.)

These next pictures are evidence that she is my babe. This series we have dubbed Angry Eyes. She scowls a lot in pictures. She is a happy baby (minus the fact that she is teething like crazy), but she just gets a funny look on her face when she sees the camera.

This next one is drunk angry eyes. She loves her chicken, though!

We promise that she is only offering you water, whatever may be implied by the previous picture.

I wonder how much trouble she can get into at Grandma and Grandpa Rowberry's house next week. I'm sure she will manage to get into a lot!

Things we do to make kids eat

So those of you that have kids know it is hard to make them eat. It is almost time to watch Chrismtas Story again, isn't it?

Stuck, Stuck, Stuck!

You know in A Christmas Story where he sticks his tongue on the pole? Of course you do. I love how he says "Stuck, stuck, stuck!" Each stuck gets more dramatic and high-pitched. Brad and I were in the kitchen on Monday and we heard Elinor making funny noises. We walked into the living room and saw this:

She knocked over my school bag and got the foot of her pajamas stuck. It was so funny to watch her try to pull it out. Her foot wasn't under the case, just the jammers. I love the first one because as soon as she saw the camera she stopped fussing and started smiling for the camera. It was so funny!

Where are all our spoons?

On Monday I did a quick run through of the living room and stairs and this is what I found:

And I know there are more downstairs. And that's after we had just picked up spoons on Saturday.

Is there a 12 step program for spoons?

Our Crazy Babe

That must be some good ravioli!
I looked over and noticed she was licking the tray of her high chair. It was so funny! This is the best picture I got (she knows to pose when the camera comes out, so it's hard to get some of those great pictures of her doing things).
Yay! She liked that ravioli. She sometimes would rather starve than let you feed her, so this is what we get frequently.
But even dirty, she sure is cute!

She is really good at hugs and kisses now--it melts our hearts (and the sneaky girl uses it to her advantage--like when she wants what you are eating, she will give you a hug so you bend to her will). My favorite thing she does right now is gives "Pat" hugs and kisses. It's so cute to watch her kiss my belly!

Happy Halloween!

In honor of Halloween, here are some pictures of Elinor from our Trunk or Treat last weekend. She was a very cute fairy. Her costume was a hit!

Here's a picture of Elinor from her birthday in Las Vegas. It's kinda cool.

Miss Independent

Elinor wants to do everything herself. If she can't, she'll throw a little fit. She refuses to eat unless she can feed herself (why don't more foods come on sticks like corn dogs?). And even then it's usually only if she can use a spoon. This is difficult for a barely one-year-old with little fine motor skills.

I tried to feed her a yogurt the other day. She refused. So I put her in her high chair, gave her the spoon, took off her shirt, and let her go at it. Here is the result:

(The last one is a little close and bright, but it's a real cute picture of her little teeth.)

She actually ate half of the yogurt all by herself. She saw me pull out the camera and started smiling. When I put it down, she pointed at it and wanted me to take more (which of course I obliged). After a nice bath, we were ready for the next food adventure!

The Good Life

Does it get any better than this? Corn dogs and House on a Saturday afternoon!
By the way, did you notice the double spoon action? Did I mention my daughter is a hoarder of spoons? She is a child of the recession! We find spoons EVERYWHERE and are pretty sure we will continue to find them in the weirdest places. In case you were wondering, she's not a glutton!

For your viewing pleasure...

Elinor's Birthday Party

We had a birthday party for Elinor on Saturday. Here are some of the pictures.

Elinor is quite the little monkey. She climbs on anything and anyone. Her invitations were cute little monkeys so I made a monkey cake!

Elinor had tons of fun playing with her cousins.
Elinor did really well opening the presents (anytime she can rip paper she is in heaven!).

Elinor loves this book Grandma and Grandpa Rowberry got her. Hopefully it lasts a little while before she destroys it!
I think the balloons were the hit of the party! I'll have Brad post some funny videos we got of the kiddos playing with the balloons.

Elinor's Exciting Day

Elinor had a very exciting day today. After a yummy lunch with Anne, Taylor, Blaine, and Roger, she headed off to the doctor to see her baby brother. That's right, Elinor is going to have a baby brother! We are all excited!

Elinor's Stats

We just got back from Elinor's one year check-up. I really like our pediatrician. And the best part is she's only one light from the shop. Super close! Here are Elinor's stats:

24 lbs 6.4 oz--90%
32.3 inches--off the chart (like usual)

She is a big, healthy girl! She got 4 shots today. I held her down. Watching her get shots is bad enough. Watching her get shots while pregnant is lethal. I definitely had tears in my eyes. It was so sad.

We love having Elinor turned around in the car. Elinor is a very good walker, loves to push strollers/shopping carts/anything that moves, loves Cheerios and Kix, and LOVES being outside. She also likes playing with Pat (and climbing on him/her). She doesn't like sleeping in a Pack-n-Play, sitting in a shopping cart (why would she want to sit in one when she could push one?), and getting shots. She is a very happy baby and is very cute with her new mouth full of teeth!

Breaking News

Today was a big day for Elinor. She went to nursery! What?! You ask. Well here's how it happens. The second counselor in the Primary Presidency is over nursery and we got to know her well during our stint in nursery. She was playing with Elinor while I went to the bathroom to throw up. I ended up going home and she told me to leave Elinor (Brad was subbing in Primary). She decided to put Elinor in nursery because Elinor absolutely LOVES playing in there. (She asked Brad if it was OK). Apparently Elinor did great! When Brad got her after she had little teary eyes, but she just got a little sad at the very end. Elinor already has the perfect personality for nursery. She's not shy at all and she loves other kids. Too bad we still have 6 months until she can actually go! (Chasing Elinor during church while having a newborn for 2 months does NOT sound like fun!)

Crazy Month

This month has been crazy. Elinor got two bottom teeth and started walking. Now she has four teeth broken through and two more almost through. By next week Elinor should have 6 teeth! Crazy considering three weeks ago she had NONE! She is also going through a HUGE growth spurt. Her poor little legs hurt from growing so much. Between Elinor waking up and pregnancy bladder issues, I have been up several times a night. Needless to say it's been an insane, fussy (for mom and babe) month!

Miss Elinor Anne

Here is what Miss Elinor has been up to lately. Elinor LOVES ice. She absolutely loves it. Here she is eating a piece of ice out of her dad's hands.

If you haven't heard, Elinor will be a big sister in February. Here is the cute shirt I bought for Elinor off of etsy.

Elinor likes to color. Actually, she likes to eat the colored pencils. Same difference.
This is Elinor's first buggy ride. You can't really see her, but she is on the other side of Morgan. Elinor LOVED the sand dunes. She got to play in the sand, eat the sand, and go on a buggy ride. When she got back from the ride she was grinning from ear to ear. She's definitely part Coe!

Thanksgiving Point is doing a special right now. The museum is only $2.oo on Tuesdays in August. Normally it is $10 for adults and $8 for kids 3-11. Kristin, Parker, Morgan, my mom, Elinor, and I went. It was fun but CROWDED!

Elinor had so much fun with Grandma Coe. It was really nice to have her here to watch Elinor.

Elinor's big news: chompers! Both of Elinor's bottom teeth poked through on Saturday. Just the little tops have come out, but if you put a spoon in her mouth you can hear a clink!

Elinor is a great baby and we are happy she is in our family!
